A large vocabulary is essential to the success of any language-learner. Though studying vocabulary by itself will not make you fluent, it will certainly make fluency possible when combined frequent practice.

You should establish a goal for the number of words you want to learn. Then decide how many you can reasonably learn in a day. Keep in mind that you want to allow time each day to review the words you have already learned. Learning words is hard work, and forgetting the words you've already memorized is a waste of your time.

This calculator will give you an idea how long it will take for you to learn a specific number of words. It assumes you study five days a week.
